{"id":16,"date":"2015-02-04T17:47:46","date_gmt":"2015-02-04T04:47:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/melboulton.blogtown.co.nz\/?p=16"},"modified":"2015-02-04T17:47:46","modified_gmt":"2015-02-04T04:47:46","slug":"love-in-the-dark-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/melboulton.blogtown.co.nz\/?p=16","title":{"rendered":"Love In The Dark"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bowing her head against the driving rain, her perfect features were as remote as those of the carved angel on the tombstone in front of her.\u00a0 A chill ran the length of her body and she shuddered as she noticed a tall dark man watching her from the shadows.\u00a0 Frozen inside, her attention returned to her own final resting place.\u00a0 As she wondered how this could have happened, she faintly heard footsteps approaching from behind her.\u00a0 Spinning on her heel to confront the stranger, her black velvet cape swirled around her like the wings of a bat taking flight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAh, my princess of darkness has come to me at last!\u201d\u00a0 The deep voice and strange words bounced around in Zoe\u2019s mind but she didn\u2019t feel the fear she had expected to feel.\u00a0 The stranger looked past her to the tombstone they were standing in front of.\u00a0 A slab of black marble sat at the base of the quiet and ever-seeing angel.\u00a0 He read the engraving out loud.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cZoe Spencer, always in our hearts.\u00a0 1981 &#8211; 2005.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo?\u00a0 What\u2019s your point?\u201d\u00a0 Zoe snapped coldly.\u00a0 \u201cAnd by the way, who the hell are you anyway?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh, so sorry my beautiful.\u00a0 My name is Soren Davis.\u00a0 And you my sweet must be Zoe.\u00a0 I have been waiting for you my whole life.\u201d\u00a0 Sweeping a black baseball cap from his black hair, Soren bowed to her.\u00a0 Zoe felt her cold cheeks flame with embarrassment and the ice wall around her heart begin to melt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWalk with me?\u201d\u00a0 Soren offered his arm.\u00a0 With little reluctance Zoe took it.\u00a0 Walking arm in arm among the crumbling and decaying tombstones with this dark stranger, Zoe felt strangely at peace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven here, surrounded by darkness and death, there is light to be found Zoe, you just have to look for it.\u00a0 Will you let me be your light or are you going to fight what is naturally right?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Soren\u2019s rich deep voice rolled over Zoe in waves and she knew she couldn&#8217;t fight him even if she had the desire to do so, which she didn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can be my light Soren,\u201d she whispered into the darkness.<\/p>\n<p>As the moon parted their company and the first rays of sunlight started creeping towards the cemetery gates, Zoe and Soren parted, agreeing to meet again that night as the moon rose once again in the black sky above.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you realize that the moonlight in your blonde hair makes it look like spun silk?\u201d\u00a0 Soren\u2019s voice rumbled through Zoe\u2019s mind like thunder and her heart leapt with joy at his words.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, I didn&#8217;t know that,\u201d Zoe replied with a satisfied smile.\u00a0 \u201cBut I do know that the moonlight on your black hair makes it look like a raven\u2019s wing.\u201d\u00a0 Her bright blue eyes sparkled up at him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI take that as a compliment.\u00a0 My Angel of Darkness brings a smile to my face.\u201d\u00a0 Soren laughed, his dark green eyes shining with the love he felt for her.<\/p>\n<p>The following evening, sitting on the damp grass in the middle of the cemetery, Zoe didn&#8217;t feel the early evening dew beneath her.\u00a0 Instead she only felt an all-consuming love for the man sitting at her side.\u00a0 A love that she had never felt before in her life.\u00a0 Zoe knew that the lack of love in her life was the reason she had lingered after death instead of crossing over.\u00a0 So what will happen now I have found it at last?
